We are gathered here to discuss some non-technical aspects of dermatology. Hot Spots is a meeting that began in 1987. We have always endeavored to include the humanities as part of these programs.
Indeed, special interest in the humanities was central to
five of our previous meetings: one in Bali in
1992, one on Penang in 2007 and one at the University of British Columbia in
2002 and two in Cuba (2003 and 2004). Five of us who are
here were at the Penang meeting and two of us were among the Bali registrants.
Today, we have an eclectic group from British Columbia,
Malaysia, Japan, Iran, and the States of Hawaii, New York, Wisconsin and
Massachusetts.
We will share our insights and our collegiality. Thank you for coming.
